该电影以1942年侵华日军对我太行山区进行疯狂扫荡为背景，救世结合山西长治地区真实存在的感人故事，救世以纪实手法讲述了在山西屯留老爷山的一场突围中，由韩少峰等人组成的侦查小分队在归队途中，意外发现日军驻地囚禁着十几名群众，为了营救并保护群众撤离敌占区与日军展开殊死搏斗的故事。
