卡特里娜是一位单身母亲，综合线她带着年幼的女儿克拉拉横穿全国，综合线准备开始新的生活。但是他们的车却在一个渺无人烟的地方抛锚。在卡特里娜更换轮胎时，克拉拉从沙漠公路上走远，并被一条有毒的响尾蛇咬伤。急于挽救女儿生命的卡特里娜接受了一位神秘女子的帮助。这名女子奇迹般治愈了克拉拉，但却要求卡特里娜去杀掉一个陌生人作为抵偿。为避免女儿在日落时再次身陷险境，卡特里娜必须尽快解决一个道德难题：谁应当活下来，谁又该死去？
