倚靠家产四处游历的无业学者岛村（木村功 饰）偶然间来到一个名叫雪国的地方，色视区在当地的温泉旅馆，色视区他邂逅了19岁的美丽酒女驹子（岩下志麻 饰）。驹子倾慕岛村的才华，岛村却一心寻欢作乐。离开雪国当晚，这两个身份悬殊之人终于结合在一起。回到东京的岛村对驹子念念不忘，次年，他再次回到雪国。此时的驹子已成为艺妓，她为了医好未婚夫行男的病而努力赚钱。岛村的到来令她的感情世界再起波澜。这两个人，注定一段难解难分的爱恨纠缠……本片根据日本作家川端康成的同名小说改编。
