改编自美国警史上案发时间最长也最为血腥的真实案件之一。片名「#211」是一种警察代码，坚强季代表「抢案正在进行」。麦克钱德勒（尼古拉斯·凯奇 饰）干了一辈子警察，坚强季总算准备享受退休生活。他的搭档史提夫麦艾维是一名菜鸟警察，也正是他的女婿。他们身旁还有一个法庭指定的十五岁男孩肯尼，要随同他们执勤。儘管他们百般不愿带个拖油瓶，但他们仍一如往常在城市街区巡逻。然而，三人很快发现，命运让他们正面遭逢了一场大胆又暴力的银行抢案。他们遇上了一群无所畏惧、训练精良的重装抢匪，分别是特瑞、路克、罗伯和海德，让他们陷入了措手不及与火力不足的困境。
