故事发生在风景如画的西西里岛，国产阿斯卡洛内（萨罗·乌尔济 Saro Urzì 饰）有三个美丽的女儿艾格尼斯（斯蒂芬尼娅·桑德雷莉 Stefania Sandrelli 饰）、国产阿玛利亚（洛拉·布拉奇尼 Lola Braccini 饰）和马蒂尔德（Paola Biggio 饰）。阿斯卡洛内是一个非常具有威严的男人，家里大大小小的事情从来都是他说了算。马蒂尔德即将和未婚夫皮诺（阿尔多·普利西 Aldo Puglisi 饰）携手步入婚姻的殿堂，哪知道皮诺是一个朝三暮四的花花公子，在他的勾引下，艾格尼斯和他发生了关系，不仅如此，艾格尼斯的腹中还怀上了皮诺的孩子。这件事情不可避免的被阿斯卡洛内得知了，震怒的阿斯卡洛内命令皮诺娶艾格尼斯为妻。
